Shanghai World Expo 2010 Kookaburra
The Perth Mint has struck Australias official commemorative Kookaburra for the Shanghai World Expo 2010, which is to taking place between 1 May and 31 October. The reverse of the coin features a coloured depiction of Peng Peng, the Australian pavilions kookaburra mascot, and the Chinese characters for Peng Peng. The design includes the Australian pavilions colourful logo which is a representation of the Australian continent in three wavy lines symbolising the blue sea and sky, red centre and golden beaches. The coins reverse also incorporates The Perth Mints P mintmark. Limited to a mintage of 30,000, this Shanghai World Expo 2010 silver coin is subject to an exclusive distribution agreement in China. Under a special arrangement, a 1,000 coins can be issued by The Perth Mint for sale worldwide. The coin is housed in a presentation case and themed box shipper accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
