Maple Leaf Coin Obverse

The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of all silver and gold Maple Leaf coins,there are three different versions of Queen Elizabeth on the observe of the Canadian Maple Leaf, from 1988-1989 design was the Tiara Portrait by designers Arnold Machin & Walter Ott, 1990-2003 design was the Royal Diadem Portrait by designer Dora de Perdery Hunt, and the 2004-Present design the Uncrowned Portrait by designers Susanna Blunt & Susan Taylor.

The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) produces many different varieties of Silver Maple Leafs, these range from privy marked coins, coloured coins and holographic coins and sets, all types of Maple Leafs nearly always feature the Maple Leaf design in one form or another. Some of the privy marked varieties of Maple Leafs were available only in Europe. Some Maple Leafs where made in limited mintages numbering in the low thousands making them highly collectable.
