The Mexican Silver Libertad
The first of the modern one ounce Silver Libertad was issued in 1982 by the Banco de Mexico, but a re-design occurred in 1996. The Libertad has a purity of .999 silver and weighs 31.6 grams or one ounce, it was first minted in the 1949. Though it was discontinued for decades after that, it has since resumed production in 1982. The coin generally features the coat of arms of Mexico of an eagle with a snake in its mouth on the reverse of the coin, and the image of the Independence Angel in front of a landscape of two volcanoes on the obverse. Libertads are minted in uncirulated and proof versions, there are also produced in different sizes and sets.

The Silver Libertad is offered in a number of different sizes for collectors 1/20oz,1/10oz, ¼oz, ½oz, 1oz, 2oz, 5oz and 1kilo. Silver proof versions of these coins in all sizes and silver proof sets are also available.

Proof Libertad Set
The Proof Libertad Set contains 5 silver proof coins which are 1oz, ½oz, ¼oz, 1/10oz and a 1/20oz, the proof coins are set in a wooden presentation case. A total of around 1000 set are produced.

The Prooflike Kilo Libertad weighs in at 2.2 pounds or 32oz of .999 silver, with a diameter of 110mm this is one impresive coin. A total of between 800 and 1800 are minted depending on year.
