The Famous Battle Series 2009-2010
Focusing on five notable engagements that changed the course of history, The Perth Mints Famous Battles Series portrays battlefield scenes spanning more than two millennia. Struck from 1oz of .999 pure silver and in proof quality from the Perth Mint, these coins depict five famous battle scenes and released in 2009. The five coins in the series are the battle of Thermopylae (480 BC), the battle of Cannae (216 BC), the battle of Hastings (1066 AD), the battle of Balaklava (1854 AD) and the battle of Gettysburg (1863 AD). Each coin is limited to a mintage of 5000 each by the Perth Mint, and each of the coins comes in a presentation display case with a numbered certificate of authenticity and a illustrated shipper. Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the coin bears the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse. The Famous Battles five coin series has proven to be extremely popular among collectors.
