New Silver Bullion Releases

The Worlds Largest Gold Coin Released

The Australian Perth Mint has unveiled the biggest and most valuable gold coin in the world,  weighing a massive one tonne of .9999 pure gold. This colossal coin measures nearly 80cms wide and more than 12cms deep, as the showpiece of the Australian Kangaroo Gold Bullion Coin Program its classic design by Dr Stuart Devlin AO CMG goldsmith and jeweller to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has featured on each annual 1 kilo release in the series for more than 20 years. The one tonne masterpiece features a bounding red kangaroo surrounded by stylised rays of sunlight and bordered by the inscription AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO 1 TONNE 9999 GOLD and the year and date, issued as Australian legal tender the obverse of the coin features the Ian Rank Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by the inscriptions ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA and the monetary denomination of 1 MILLION DOLLARS. The popular Australian Kangaroo Gold Bullion Coin Program offers a stunning choice of gold bullion coins in a range of sizes with various mintage limits and annual design changes.

While it has a nominal value of A$1million (£650,000), and is actually being sold as legal tender for that price, the current cost of gold makes it worth a lot more, the record breaking gold coin could be worth up to A$57.34million (£35million) if it was melted down and separated into gold bars.

The 2012 Silver Kookaburra

This 2012 release marks the twenty third annual issue of the silver kookaburra series,as this series dates back to when the inaugural Kookaburra first appeared in 1990, since that debut these coins have come to be one of the most sought after bullion strikes in the world. This fact is due to the Perth Mints policy of changing the reverse design every year to feature a new image of the iconic kookaburra bird. This 2012 reverse design shows a kookaburra perched on the branch of a Eucalyptus tree amongst its leaves, the bird is shown looking over its left wing with its beak slightly open. In past years the mintage was capped at only 300,000 strikes, however last years release saw the mintage increased to 500,000 owing to the recent jump in demand for bullion products there are no mintage limit is in place for the 10 ounce or the 1 kilo silver coins. Silver Piedfort Maple Leaf

The Royal Canadian Mint introduces this unique 2010 silver piedfort maple leaf coin, the first pure silver piedfort coin featuring a beautiful Maple Leaf design. Mintage is limited to 9,000 coins worldwide of which 3,000 are part of a set. Piedfort coins, whose name comes from the French for heavy measure, originated in medieval Europe. Coin makers deliberately made their die templates thick and heavy to ensure they would not be confused with regular coins. This added weight and substance and caught the eyes of kings and nobles and soon piedforts were being displayed in the lavish courts of Europe as enviable symbols of wealth and power, a fascinating history that has been crafted into these exceptionally thick and heavy pure silver coins.

NOTE: Traditionally, a piedfort is a piece struck of a planchet that is thicker than normal; piedforts are typically twice the thickness of a regular coin. In this case, our 2010 Silver Maple Leaf piedfort is the same diameter as a half-ounce SML but contains double the amount of pure silver, making it significantly thicker, which is typical of the piedfort style

A new realistically rendered image of the single maple leaf is on the observe of the coin with the legend 9999 silver purity, while the date of the coin is also indicated. On the reverse of the coin is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England in profile facing right. This portrait is the fourth effigy of the queen to appear on Canadian coinage, and was executed by the artist Susanna Blunt. The legend ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA (Elizabeth II, Queen by the Grace of God) also appears. Each silver maple leaf is encapsulated inside an elegant, burgundy leatherette clamshell style presentation case lined with black velvet and protected by a black outer box, and an individually numbered certificate of authenticity is also included. The Perth Mints latest release the Tasmanian Tiger, one of Australias most distinctive, most mysterious and most famous creatures the extinct Tasmanian Tiger. This is the first coin in the Extinct & Endangered Series and could be as popular as the Deadly & Dangerous series of coins. The coins reverse depicts the Tasmanian tiger and cub set against its natural habitat, the tiger and cub are featured in stunning colour and are authentic depictions of this noble beast. With a large wolf like head and tiger like striped coat and wombat like backwards facing pouch, the Thylacinus cynocephalus (Tasmanian Tiger) is among the most intriguing of Australias animals. Rivalling in reputation such wonders of nature as the platypus, kangaroo and koala, this unusual creature virtually disappeared from the Australian mainland around 2,000 to 3,000 years ago. At the time of European Settlement, it was found in significant numbers only in Tasmania. Hunting, disease and habitat destruction all had a major impact on the Tassie Tiger population, and the last known thylacine died in the Hobart Zoo in 1936.

Proof Silver Dollar - 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Navy (RCM-2010)

In 1910 Parliament passed the Naval Service Act to form the Canadian navy, a fledgling force that came to fruition during the Second World War when Canada built more than 120 corvettes to guard the North Atlantic. The Sackville was one of the original Flower Class corvettes that gained recognition for her exemplary service during the Second World War. In 1982, she was reconverted to her original state and now serves as The Canadian Naval Memorial to honour the heritage of the Canadian Navy.

The silver dollar gained status as a collectible in 1935 when the first silver dollar (Voyageur) was produced, as the 51st issue of the series this coin is crafted with all the prestige of one of the Royal Canadian Mints(RCM) most enduring series. The HMCS Sackville, the last surviving corvette and living memorial to the Canadian Navy, its pennant number (K-181) clearly visible on its hull and its motto (Ready Aye Ready/Prêt Oui Prêt) in morse code. The Proof Silver Dollar is released in .925 sterling silver.
